A trailer that looks fine in the driveway can fishtail at 60 MPH. This kit gives you the BTBRV 1K scale and 6" SnapPad so you can check your tongue weight fast, wherever you're parked. One quick step could save your whole trip.
Your trailer looks fine. Your truck's not squatting. But that doesn't mean your rig is safe! The Big Truck Big RV (BTBRV) 1K scale takes the guesswork out of loading. It reads your actual tongue weight, so you'll know if you're in that safe 10 to 15 percent zone. Too far back and you'll fishtail. Too far forward and you'll overload the hitch. This scale shows you where you're at before any of that happens. This isn't just about getting the load right. Your family's riding in that truck too.
JD's the guy behind Big Truck Big RV and he doesn't just slap his name on gear he doesn't use. He's been towing long enough to know what works and what doesn't. He's used this scale, trusted it, and loaded it up with his own family riding shotgun. This scale's been under real trailers and taken on real trips, not just a showroom floor. If it says BTBRV, it's been tested and used in the kind of conditions that separate the good stuff from the junk.
Does not include storage bag.

Hi everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look together at a Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale, rated for 1,000 pounds capacity, and you get the included snap pad on the base. So folks, starting off, I wanna explain, if you're not sure, tongue weight is basically the weight of the tongue of your towed trailer. And it's gonna usually be between 10 to 15% of the total weight of your trailer. So let's say your trailer was, in this case, 1,000 pounds capacity for the whole trailer.
Your tongue weight really needs to be between about 100 to 150 pounds, maybe even 200 max, but that's probably pushing it. So the tongue weight scale is a quick, easy way to effectively see visibly that tongue weight once you've got everything installed before your trip. So you'd use it much like this image here. So you'd place it on the ground right underneath the ball coupler. And this works with all three size ball couplers out there, the one and 7/8ths, two inch, and two and 5/16ths.
And with the snap pad on the base, it's not gonna slide on you or anything. So as you can see in that image, you're using your jack on your trailer to help lift it up obviously. And then you're slowly lowering it down onto the tongue weight scale until you get the proper readout, meaning that jack base is gonna be off the ground, probably at least a half inch to just to make sure all the weight's on the tongue. And then you're gonna see that visible weight on this mechanical dial here. And this is in 50 pound increments.
And that's gonna give you your tongue weight readout. So from there you can make safe adjustments on the trailer itself. So if you have too much tongue weight in the front, that's gonna be squatting down the rear of your tow vehicle, potentially putting your headlights up where you can't see the road. And also taking some traction and weight off your front axle, which in turn can be dangerous 'cause that's where you're gonna get a lot of that sway going on and everything. So once you get your tongue weight, you simply adjust the weight of the trailer accordingly and make sure that it's, you know, in that safe zone and then you're good to go.
Now again, like I mentioned before, you get this nice snap pad included, that's gonna give you traction once it's on the bottom here and it simply just pops right into place. If you never use 'em, they're amazing little tools. Overall heights without the snap pad installed, I got about 17 and 1/4 inches from the top all the way down to the floor. With the snap pad installed, it adds about an eighth of an inch, or about an inch, sorry, 'cause it does recess in there a little bit. So roughly 18 and 1/4 to 18 and 1/2 inches. Obviously, keep in mind whenever you have weight on here, that height could, you know, change slightly. Now folks, the name on here, Big Truck Big Rv, if you haven't heard of them, JD, he's the owner of that company and we have partnered with him over the years. He's been a great friend of ours and he doesn't just slap his name on gadgets and gizmos and stuff like that. No, he tests the products, he manufactures the products and he knows that these are safe to use. He uses his family with 'em whenever he travels all the time. That's what he does daily. So he's not gonna just slap his name on something and use it haphazardly with his family with him. So a great product. It's been tested rigorously. You can be sure that it's gonna be working great for you and safe, again, max tongue weight of 1,000 pounds. This is the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale with included snap pad. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
